Well I certainly didn’t see this one coming. Or, coming out, I should say.
I really love this article. For example, this line, a quote from the writer Greg Rucka: “Yes, she’s a lesbian. She’s also a redhead. It is an element of her character. It is not her character”. I mean, I really honestly appreciate the intent to make it “BatWoman” and not “BatLesbian” but the fact that he pointed this out sounds a little familiar…sort of like every 15 year old gay boy’s MySpace/Facebook.
I’m really happy that DC put such an important character in the gay spotlight, and not some random side character (”Look out, it’s…The CARPETMUNCHER”), but we’ll see how they approach this “red-headed lesbian socialite”.
