Really, I think this is just silly. I mean, at the very least, I hope he’s contributed SOME money to actual HIV/AIDS research too, and not just blowing a cool fifty mill on some half-ass approach. Don’t get me wrong – if it helps, it helps. But I can’t help but wonder if he could of helped better.
Makes this Penny Arcade strip even funnier, however.
UPDATE: just to clarify — I’m NOT against the Gates Foundation. They have contributed to HIV/AIDS research in many different ways, which is more than I can say. I DO think this is a lot of money going into an iffy process, but the stats are in their favor and again, if it helps, it helps!
The REAL point of the post is the irony stated in panel 3.
